Fair to say it has been an interesting news week, with the vote to leave the EU clearly a massive shock to the system. Shortly, we will be releasing our post-Brexit wine report, providing analysis and commentary on how the UK's divorce with the EU will impact our market moving forward, but clearly the imminent future advocates a need for calm and patience, whilst the consequences become that much clearer over time.
On the wine front, last week brought about the completion of the Bordeaux En Primeur 2015 campaign. Whilst as expected the pricing strategy across the board was mixed, it was certainly the most engaging vintage for some time, unearthing some of the most celebrated wines across the Right Bank, Graves and Margaux. We have built additional positions in the leading releases and for those yet to engage in the campaign, or those looking to add to their holding, we are on hand to advise.
In a very close second place for most shocking exit of the week came England's dismal display against Iceland on Monday night. Absent, misguided and devoid of ideas (no not the leave campaign) Roy Hodgson's men trundle home in shame after another tournament to forget. In fact, it was only the completion of the England rugby team's first ever 3-0 whitewash of Australia down under that restored any feeling of patriotic pride in the past fortnight.
