Exclusive En Primeur Value Buys

Each week throughout the campaign we will be making exclusive recommendations to our customers on Bordeaux 2015 wines under £25 per bottle which we feel offer exceptional value.

In celebrated vintages such as 2015 where the quality is high across the board, there will be plenty of great value wines at (£10-£25 per bottle). There are a number of stunning successes across appellations in this dependable price range, and these wines ought to be considered by any serious Bordeaux consumer. They will offer drinkers excellent quality wines that will be incredibly charming upon release with the capability of 5-10 + year of ageing.

Although not investment wines, these will often be more difficult to find upon physical release and in almost every case more expensive, so it very much pays to buy these great value Bordeaux's at en primeur.

Our head of fine wines (ex-Fat Duck Sommelier) Lukasz Kolodziejczyk will be personally selecting all of the wines offered out, representing what he believes are the must-buys from the vintage.

Any wine offered has to meet the following criteria:

✓  Under £25 per bottle
✓  Capable of 5-10 years of aging
✓  Enjoyable to drink upon delivery

*Please note these are not recommended as investment grade wines.

Wine2
2015 Chateau Poujeaux,
Moulis-en-Medoc

£17.08 per bottle (IB)

Available formats:
12 btl original wooden case:£205.00
6 btl original wooden case:£102.50

"A bright and energetic wine. This wine offers rich, layered black fruits and sweet cherry with a nice structure lying underneath. Tannins are drying and evident, but well integrated and not too firm. Has the potential for long-term aging."

Lukasz Kolodziejczyk (Cult Wines)

Delivery Due:Early 2018
Drinking Window:2020-2035

"The 2015 Poujeaux is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has a high-toned, floral bouquet with kirsch and raspberry coulis notes, opulent for this Moulis, but it manages to retain control. The palate is chewy on the entry with mouth-coating tannin, solid in the mouth, brutish at the moment, although the finish does show satisfactory freshness, and is long and minerally. This will be intriguing once in bottle."

Barsac, 1er Cru Classé

£23.75 per bottle (IB)

Available formats:
12 btl original wooden case:£285.00
6 btl original wooden case:£142.50

"This Barsac property associated with the Rothschild wines is today one of the most dynamic and appreciated Sauternes/Barsac brands, thanks to the consistent quality of the wines produced. The 2015 effort is ripe and stylish with a great purity. There is a lovely balance between the rich fruit and lively acidity. It is undoubtedly a very good wine which also offers fantastic aging potential."

Lukasz Kolodziejczyk (Cult Wines)

Delivery Due:Early 2018
Drinking Window:2020-2043

"The 2015 Coutet comes with 153 grams per liter of residual sugar at 13.8% alcohol. It has a fragrant bouquet with acacia honey, citrus scents and a touch of melted butter, all very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive purity, those limestone soils imparting the acidity that defined this Barsac, and lending great precision and tension on the live-wire finish. This is a wonderful Coutet that feels energetic - a compressed spring coil that will drink earlier than the likes of Climens or de Fargues, but has the DNA to age gracefully over 25-30 years."
