Hart Davies Hart off to ‘tremendous start’ in 2017
Chicago based auction house Hart Davies Hart is off to a “tremendous start” in 2017 after its latest sale realised US$5.6m.
According to the company, the two-day sale last week resulted in hammer prices “higher than we’ve seen since 2014”.
Wines from the collection of Huston Street in particular brought in strong results with the consignment achieving $785,975 in total, as buyers bid hard for lots such as 2002 La Tâche and 1982 Château Latour.
An offering of Napa wines direct from the cellars of the Bryant family also performed very well, making $110,986 in total while a further consignment from Dom Pérignon made $104,443.
Top lots included: a 12-bottles assorted case of 1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, a Methuselah of 1985 La Tâche, 12 bottles of 1989 Pétrus, a full case of 1982 Lafite and another 12-pack of 1993 Vosne-Romanée Beaux Monts from Domaine Leroy.
