Bordeaux shines at HDH auction

Mature Claret stole the spotlight at Hart Davies Hart’s latest fine wine auction, which was 100% sold and made nearly US$7m.

Of all the 2,439 lots sold almost 60% went for more than their high estimates.

Demand for Bordeaux was particularly strong, with wines from the region alone bringing in more than $2.8m.

Mouton Rothschild, Petrus and Pichon-Comtesse were well-accounted for, with 328 lots of First Growths making $1.7m.

Elsewhere in the auction, more than 500 lots of Burgundy sold for $1.8m, with three bottles of 2010 Romanee-Conti securing the auction’s best-selling lot at $45,410.

The sale also saw “aggressive” competition for Californian wines, including 41 lots of Screaming Eagle.
