While Conseillante has been ranked as the estate's "best work since majestic 2010", Vieux Chateau Certan, the lowest scored out of the four, has been claimed as "another outstanding wine from Alexandre and Guillaume Thienpont".

Looking back to the previous vintage, the Pomerol line up did reap a nice profit. Clinet has risen 41% from its 2015 release and 12.18% for Evangile (WA 96-98). Vieux Chateau Certan (WA 98-100), nearly perfect, takes pride in an extra £546 gained in the first year after release.

Conseillante 2015 (WA 95-97) through the same period grew by a modest 7.7% whereas Trotanoy rocketed by more than 80% to reach £2,765. This March Neal Martin has upgraded Trotanoy 2014 from 94-96 to 97 calling it "the best Pomerol of this vintage”. Now the 2016 release is just around the corner, will the "enigma eternal" spring another surprise when bottled in spring 2018?
