English winery revenues are accelerating

Independent English winery turnover has almost trebled in the last five years, new research shows.

According to analysis from finance firm Funding Options, revenue has jumped from £55.7m in 2010/2011 to £132m in the tax year ending 31 March – up 16% on the previous year.

Exact figures on English wine aren’t known, which according to trade body English Wine Producers (EWP) is a good sign of its success. EWP spokesperson Julia Trustram told Decanter: “This is another good news story for English wine – and is in line with what we already know. Production is up, in vineyards planted and volume going out."
