Calon Segur sees overnight price spike

Four vintages of Calon Segur – 1996, 2002, 2006 and 2012 – saw all-time highs over Monday night, with the 1996 trading at the highest price of £845 per case and the 2002 at the lowest price of £625 per case. The 2006 and 2012 are both now over £700 per case.

According to Liv-ex, Calon Segur is certainly a brand on the rise. The Third Growth, which has consistently outperformed the Bordeaux 500, has seen increased interest since it was sold to Suravenir Assurances in 2012. Robert Parker previously noted that the subsequent 2013 “may mark an historic transition from a consistently excellent-to-outstanding wine, to one that is poised to be another potential first-growth Medoc.”
