Chablis and New World wines emerge beyond the Power 100

The 2017 Liv-ex Power 100 demonstrated that Burgundy dominated much of last year’s activity, but although only the top 100 wines were included in the list, 218 brands met the criteria for ranking. Now the trading platform has revealed the emerging themes among the labels which didn’t make the final cut.

Firstly, more New World brands are establishing themselves. The sole South African brand to be ranked, Sadie Family, entered the ranks for the first time in 184th place. Another rising star, California’s Verite, debuted at 117.

Chablis has also made positive moves. Traditionally the most neglected area of Burgundy in terms of market activity, 2017 saw two famous producers enter the rankings for the first time. Raveneau and Dauvissat took 112th and 189th place respectively. Raveneau’s wines were the 10th best price performer with Market Prices moving up 26.7% on average.
