Sotheby’s plans to open 2018 with HK$26m auction

Sotheby’s first Hong Kong auction of the year will feature 840 lots with an estimated value of HK$26m. The sale, taking place on 27 January and titled ‘Finest & Rarest Wines – Featuring the Spectacular Cellar of a Respected Aficionado’, will offer a wide variety of sought-after red and white Burgundies, as well as classics from Bordeaux.

Particular highlights will include Petrus from the 1960s, Salon from the 1970s and Krug Clos du Mesnil from the 1980s. Also for sale will be 59 lots from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, plus offerings from Leroy, Jayer, Leflaive and 2017 darling Rousseau.

Adam Bilbey, Sotheby’s Hong Kong head of wine, said: “It is with great anticipation that we welcome our first Hong Kong Sale of 2018. The focus and depth of the very finest domaines from Burgundy is at the core of this collection and does credit to the passion and research put in to building such an extraordinary cellar.”
