White Burgundy sets new records at Christie’s sale

Christie’s latest sale in New York saw white Burgundy from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti set a number of new records amid fierce bidding.

The star of the show was a 12-bottle case of DRC’s 1990 Montrachet, which sold for US$104,125, although several further lots from the estate set new global records. Six bottles of 2000 La Tache sold for $24,500, while 12 bottles of the 2011 went for $42,875 and 12 bottles of the 2002 Echezeaux sold for $22,050.

Other record-breaking lots included 12 bottles of Georges Roumier’s 2005 Bonnes Mares, which sold for $30,625, and a rare full dozen of Bollinger’s 1961 RD, which went for $11,638.

The auction also featured Lalique decanters of 55- and 57-year-old Macallan whisky, which set new records and $79,625 and $73,500 respectively.
