Reflection of Terroir: A Vintage Character

With the millennium's eve as its backdrop, the 1999 vintage emerged from an often-overlooked year — a prelude to the lauded 2000. Nevertheless, it reveals a sagacity that belies any overshadowing by its successor. Herein lies a grandeur bred in manageable weather patterns that gave way to wines of splendid balance and composure. In this particular bottle, one discerns a soulful minerality coupled with a mellow velvet structure that dances elegantly on the palate.

An Investment Worthy of Note

As market trends illuminate, blue-chip Bordeaux like 1999 La Mondotte continue to command reverence at auctions and amongst collections internationally; one should consider its fortitude seriously as part of a diversified portfolio.

On uncorking, it generously unfurls scents reminiscent of truffles interlaced with stewed plums and a whisper of earthy undertones — a signature indicative of Chateau La Mondotte's mastery. The palate cascades layers of cassis and darker fruits steeped in well-judged oak that contributes nuanced hints of vanilla without overwhelming.

In summation, like notes within an orchestral score, the climatic fortuity and managerial prowess during its cultivation has imbued the 1999 La Mondotte from Chateau La Mondotte with an aria all its own — a harmonious blend worthy of meticulous regard by investors with a keen eye for both complexity and longevity.

Along with the 1997, the 1999 is the most forward and accessible La Mondotte yet produced. Its opaque purple color is followed by a glorious nose of candied black fruits, graphite, licorice, and underbrush. It is full-bodied and sumptuous, possessing amazing extract and richness for the vintage. Its high tannin is hidden by a wealth of glycerin, fruit, and extract. Moreover, the finish lasts for 35-45 seconds. This is an amazing achievement in 1999. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020.
