Made before this famed proprietor began to turn out spectacular wines (1985 and later), the 1982 has aged surprisingly well given its soft, low acid, forward, precocious character. There is considerable amber at the edge, in addition to abundant quantities of sweet kirsch liqueur, black cherry, mineral, earth, and smoke aromas. Supple, plush, and round, with low acidity, yet rustic tannin, this fully mature St.-Emilion should be consumed over the next 2-3 years.
