Rising Above The Elements: A Testament to Terroir

The season's challenging weather patterns, characterized by a cool summer followed by an uneven September, could have spelled disaster for less vigilant producers. Yet, Le Dome's assiduous team coaxed out the latent potential in the vineyards, culminating in a vintage that astounds with balance and depth. This 2007 offering encapsulates the artistry of wine-making where human tenacity partners with the capricious nature to produce something delightful.

Investment Worthy: A Complex Profile from 2007

The innate complexity of the 2007 vintage is rendered gracefully in this wine. The subtlety of truffle and damp earth merges with delicate floral hints on the nose, while the palate is greeted by a mélange of ripe blackberry and a whisper of spice. Supple tannins frame the ensemble, conferring a maturity that suggests a plateau of perfect drinking or worthy continuation in cellarage.

For investors seeking a nuanced proposition within their portfolio, the considered acquisition of this nuanced 2007 Le Dome brings with it potential both for sensory pleasure and for capital appreciation. Its unique expression borne from a challenging year gives it rarity, thus capturing interest from connoisseurs and collectors alike.

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. I've never been a huge fan of this vintage from Jonathan Maltus; I think he's made better and improved his winemaking since this. The 2007 Le Dôme has a dainty bouquet with maraschino cherry and fresh strawberries, a little monotone at first but gaining definition all the time in the glass and displaying fine focus. The palate is fresh on the entry, quite crisp and taut, almost pinched, in fact. After the pleasing aromatics, this feels a little disjointed, and the oak is not as deftly integrated as its peers. Perhaps more bottle age will meld it together? Tasted March 2015.
