Harvest of Elegance: An Investment in Liquid Gold

The 1998 vintage was characterised by a harmonious interplay between the elements, imparting distinctive characteristics to the wines. Amid this backdrop, the Chateau Suduiraut crafted its golden elixir. For investors attuned to the nuances of Bordeaux's sweet wines, the 1998 variant presents an intriguing addition to their portfolio, marrying investment potential with a sip of history.

Terrific Terroir and Favourable Weather Patterns

Region-specific weather patterns play a pivotal role in crafting distinct vintages. For Chateau Suduiraut's 1998 harvest, the terroir's essence was coaxed out by a propitious combination of warm days and cool nights. This diurnal shift favoured the development of noble rot, which concentrates the grape sugars and acids to create Sauternes that are rich, yet beautifully balanced.

In this illustrative vintage, expect an opulent bouquet that brims with hints of caramelised apricot, honeyed citrus and toasted almond emanating from its deep amber core. These aromas complement a sumptuous palate that gracefully unfurls layers of quince jelly, crystallised ginger, and a subtle touch of vanilla spice. The judicious use of French oak aging integrates seamlessly with the essence of perfectly rottised Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, giving rise to a wine that is complex and lingering.

Its elegance in youth has effortlessly transitioned into sublime maturity two decades on; the wine displays an admirable profundity now, making it increasingly sought-after among connoisseurs and collectors alike.

Pale to medium gold in color, the 1998 Suduiraut gives delicate lemon pastilles and lime cordial notions with peach blossoms, honeycomb and ceps in the background. Both unctuous and refreshing in the mouth, some compelling white pepper and powdered ginger notions come through on the long finish.
