Buyers in Hong Kong didn’t waste any time scooping up library stocks of Super Tuscan Masseto at Christie’s recent sale in the city.

The auction featured a collection of very unique lots, including older vintages spanning 1995-2009 in a variety of formats, and a small parcel of its latest 2015 vintage which will become physical this autumn. In total, 19 library lots realised HK$1,008,459.

Eight lots of the 2015 sold for a total HK$580,297, equivalent to HK$9,515 per bottle. Each will be presented in a wooden case with a plaque indicating it was purchased at the Hong Kong sale.

Tim Tiptree, director and senior specialist at Christie’s Wine, said: ‘‘Christie’s are delighted with the strong results for the lots direct from Masseto with 100% of the lots offered selling and particularly the ‘Premier Preview Masseto 2015’ allowing the lucky buyers to secure this fantastic vintage before general release for sale in the autumn.

Six bottles of Masseto 2015 were sold for HK$49,000 and a rare Nebuchadnezzar for HK$196,000. We sincerely thank the team at Masseto for the partnership for this special auction.”
