Liv-ex 100 gains a solid 1.1% in June

The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 closed June on 313.07, up 1.14% on the previous month – the sharpest monthly rise since November 2017 – representing the third consecutive month of gains.

Some had speculated that the market would face an early summer slump following an uninspiring En Primeur campaign, but as the drinks business notes, campaigns have become a less dominant force for many merchants. As such, the secondary market is better able to avoid the shock of “less than spectacular primeurs”.

Growth this month was largely driven by the 2009 vintage, with Sassicaia 2009 leading the charge, gaining 10.5%. Latour 2009 and Ducru Beaucaillou 2009 also posted gains of 5.6% and 5,1% respectively.

Other risers included Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Richebourg 2012 and 2010 Petrus, up 5.8% and 5.1% respectively.
