The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 Index ran largely flat throughout September, closing on 316.25, up 0.08% on the previous month.

The month’s top mover’s came from Burgundy, Bordeaux and Champagne, with DRC Richebourg 2014 taking the title of September’s biggest mover, rising 13.3%. As Liv-ex notes, the wine was also the top riser in July, but occupied last place during August, pointing to market volatility as prices continue to move higher.

Two vintages of Chateau Latour, the 2000 and 2003, also rose in September, helped by heavy trading across many vintages of Latourover the past few weeks.

The 2009 vintage of Louis-Roederer Cristal price, meanwhile, was up 12.1%, while the 2008 fell by 4.8% on last month.

Like the biggest riser, the biggest faller in September was from Burgundy. Domaine Ponsot, Clos Roche Vv 2015 was down 7.6%. Giacomo Conterno, Barolo Riserva Monfortino 2010, which was August’s top riser, and Cos d’Estounel 2005 followed behind, down 7% and 5% respectively.
