The 2007 vintage from Domaine de la Janasse offers a fascinating study of the characteristics that this venerable producer can instigate when Mother Nature presents the stage. Tasting the essence of Rhone

This wine is clearly born from the chalky soils of Rhone, unlocking a unique expression in every sip. The 2007 vintage, in particular, allowed for a longer than usual ripening period, resulting in concentrated flavors reflecting the region's climatic conditions. The clear, warm days and cool nights have yielded robust layers of ripe black cherries, graphite and dark chocolates.

Intended for those with discerning palates and an eye towards prized vintages, Domaine de la Janasse's 2007 Chateuneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes offers an assured return on investment both in terms of sensory experience and value appreciation over time.

A vintage graced by serenity

2007 marked itself as a year where calmness prevailed, both weather-wise and politically in Rhone. A spring without drama followed an unusually warm winter with enough rainfall to hydrate the vines. This peace led to a generous crop of remarkable quality balanced out by low yield.

For those seeking to add one of the deeply treasured wines from Rhone to their collection, Domaine de la Janasse's Chateuneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes marched forth in 2007 with an intensity that proclaims its ability to stand the test of time. This wine's aging potential enriches its investment value.

This is a wine that is jewel-like in precision, captivating both the intellect and soul of the oenophile whilst boasting an underlying power that makes it a glory to behold. There is a wild, untamed energy embedded within its refined structure. The 2007 Chateuneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes from Domaine de la Janasse is indeed a testament to the magical synergy of place, year, and craft.

A bigger, richer, more concentrated wine than the ethereally textured Cuvee Chaupin, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is unquestionably one of the wines of the vintage as well as one of the finest Chateauneuf du Papes ever made. Offering notes of cassis, roasted meats, beef blood and licorice, this heavenly 2007 is full-bodied, hugely concentrated and rich yet shows incredible purity, focus and precision, with no sensation of heaviness or weight. It’s still deep purple colored, with no signs of evolution, and it has another two decades of life. Having said that, it’s a gorgeous drink today.
