Vintage Vitality: A Study in Elegance and Balance

The 2020 vintage is an affirmation of Chateau Lynch Bages’ consistent quality, delivering a wine that melds power with finesse. While respecting the estate's storied legacy, this iteration translates uniquely due to the unprecedented climatic conditions of 2020. The season started surprisingly warm, prompting early budbreak and flowering. However, cooler June weather slowed vine growth, creating optimal conditions for even fruit set. An August heatwave then invigorated ripening, leading to grapes with concentrated flavours and well-defined structure.

A Tapestry of Taste: The 2020 Vintage Experience

Lifting a glass of this opulent Pauillac offers a kaleidoscope for the senses. A deep ruby hue preludes the bouquet where blackcurrant and dark cherry aromas dance with leather and subtle smoke—the hallmarks of tradition masterfully capturing the environmental fingerprint. The 2020 Lynch Bages is not merely a reflection of Chateau Lynch Bages' viticultural acumen; it is a testament to their ability to produce outstanding wines under various pressures brought by Mother Nature. Perfect now for those astute investors looking to diversify their portfolio with storied vintages possessing a promising horizon for maturity. As this Pauillac polishes its character in the bottle, it will no doubt unfurl facets that fine wine advocates will savour—and that wise investors would do well to anticipate.

The 2020 Lynch-Bages is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, aging for around 18 months in French oak barriques, 75% new. It has an alcohol of 13.41%, a pH of 3.73 and an IPT (tannin index) of 93. Opaque purple-black in color, it leaps from the glass with notes of crushed blackberries, cassis and boysenberries, plus touches of garrigue, red roses and cedar chest with hints of graphite and black olives. The medium-bodied palate has a rock-solid frame of ripe, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the tight-knit black fruit and earthy flavors, finishing long and mineral laced.
