By Domaine Coche-Dury
2007 Meursault Perrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury, Burgundy, France
The celebrated slopes of Burgundy have given us many a charming vintage, yet there are those that emerge with a particular distinction that captures the essence of their year. The 2007 Meursault Perrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury is such a specimen—remarkable for its representation of both time and place.
An Apex of Minerality and Elegance
Domaine Coche-Dury, helmed by the meticulous hands of the Coche family, has long held a reputation for crafting some of the most intricate and majestic expressions of Chardonnay. The 2007 vintage in Burgundy faced a capricious climate; a mild winter followed by frost in spring, and heat spikes in summer leading to an earlier harvest. Nevertheless, it is exactly this challenging amalgam of weather conditions that have given the wines, specifically the Meursault Perrieres, their unique profile.
The intensity and purity observed in the 2007 Meursault Perrieres are unequivocal. On the palate, there is a flourish of ripe stone fruits underscored firmly by a piercing minerality—a testament to the limestone-rich soils of Perrieres. The wine shows an admirable tension and richness that belies its years, suggesting that this maiden has not only endured but thrived through the vicissitudes of over a decade and proudly bears the hallmark of a fine investment-grade wine.
Investment-Worthy Pedigree
Investing in fine wines requires insight into vintages that stand out; the 2007 Meursault Perrieres reflects not just the exceptional savoir-faire of Domaine Coche-Dury but also illustrates the resilience and ageing potential inherent in top-tier Burgundian whites. As each year mellows and refines this vintage, it concurrently enhances its desirability amongst oenophiles and collectors alike.
For lovers of white Burgundy seeking to enrich their cellars with a bottle poised for graceful maturation, or investors looking to add a star performer to their portfolio, the 2007 Meursault Perrieres should not be overlooked. In its golden-hued depths lies not just an extraordinary drinkability at present but also an assuring promise for tomorrow.

The 2007 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is still several years away from its peak, but it is beginning to drink beautifully, wafting from the glass with scents of citrus oil, crisp green apple, toasted sesame, white flowers and crushed chalk. Medium to full-bodied, deep and tensile, it's intense and concentrated, with a racy spine of acidity and a penetrating, mineral finish.
