2005 Meursault Genevrières from Domaine Coche-Dury, Burgundy, France

In the bucolic tapestry of Burgundy's prestigious winegrowing regions, Meursault holds a particularly distinguished station. The 2005 vintage from revered winemaker Domaine Coche-Dury is a paragon of finesse and complexity, capturing hearts with its eloquent expression of Genevrières' exceptional terroir.

An Investment in Liquid Poetry

Wine connoisseurs and investors alike hold the 2005 Meursault Genevrières in high esteem for its remarkable poise and age-worthiness. The season was marked by an ideal harmony of warm days and cool nights, culminating in a harvest that promised—and delivered—wines with exceptional balance and structure.

A Vintage That Speaks Volumes

As I let the 2005 Meursault Genevrières unfold in the glass, its golden hue whispers of maturity while still radiating youthful vigour. The nose yields an intoxicating bouquet where butterscotch waltzes with hints of roasted almonds and candle wax—a subtle nod to the masterful oak integration by Domaine Coche-Dury.

On the palate, this wine reveals itself as poetry in motion: seamless, with a ripe stone fruit core enlivened by a persistent mineral streak reflective of the celebrated limestone soils. Acidity is as taut as a violin string, lending longevity and suggesting that this vintage stands among one of the more investment-worthy genealogies from Domaine Coche-Dury's library.

The richness of this Meursault Genevrières does not overshadow its grace; it sustains through a finish that would seem endless were it not such a keen invitation to take another sip.

Consistency Meets Virtuosity

Domaine Coche-Dury’s virtuous winemaking heralds consistency and unsurpassed quality. The finesse exhibited by this Chardonnay poses a sound case for any fine wine portfolio. In such instances, time is the ally of collectors, as age will only amplify the splendour resplendent within each bottle of the 2005 Meursault Genevrières. Wisely considered acquisitions and a patience for maturation will undoubtedly reward those who invest in this sublime nectar—the hallmark of Domaine Coche-Dury's enological prowess.

In summary, this offering reinforces my conviction that wise investments such as the 2005 Meursault Genevrières from Domaine Coche-Dury both titillate the palate and promise future dividends in equal measure—a dual-delight for gourmands and financiers alike.

The 2005 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrieres has a crystalline bouquet with subtle scents of white peach, fresh apricot, lemon thyme and liquid minerals. These are not potent aromas – Genevrieres is more about understatement and enthralling delineation. The palate is almost perfectly balanced with unnoticeable acidity, just traces of clear honey and quince that define a persistent, weightless finish that seems to go on longer than forever. This is just a glorious Meursault verging on being too delicious to cellar. Drink now-2025. One of the most propitious Cote de Beaune lieux-dits combined with one of its greatest exponents can only mean one thing – Nirvana! And not the Seattle grunge-merchants.
