2014 Meursault Goutte d’Or from Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Burgundy, France

The reverence bestowed upon the vintages of Domaine des Comtes Lafon's storied vineyards speaks to the inherent mastery within their terroir. Reflecting on the 2014 Meursault Goutte d’Or, one is invited to appreciate the symphony of elements that culminated in an exceptional vintage for aficionados and investors alike.

Epitome of Elegance: Navigating a Robust Vintage

Climatic conditions in Burgundy throughout 2014 were remarkably complex, challenging even the most accomplished viticulturists. Yet, in a display of profound finesse, Domaine des Comtes Lafon navigated these trials with striking precision. The 2014 Meursault Goutte d’Or articulates this deftness; a beacon of opulence amidst the unpredictability of Mother Nature.

A Vintage Charismatic in Character

An exploration into the 2014 vintage reveals an exuberant tension between richness and precise acidity, resulting in a harmonious balance seldom achieved with such grace. The golden glow of the wine alludes to its very name 'Goutte d'Or', while on the nose, one is treated to ethereal whiffs of toasted hazelnuts and honeysuckle—a testament to its ageing in noble oak. The palate unravels layers of ripe orchard fruits caressed by hints of buttery brioche, leading to a textured and prolonged mineral finish that only confirms the exceptional nature of this offering.

For investors seeking to diversify with wines bearing both distinction and storied provenance, this vintage proves a formidable candidate. It embodies not just the excellence of Domaine des Comtes Lafon's winemaking philosophy but also stands as a paragon for what can be achieved in a challenging Burgundian year.

Connoisseurship's Reward: The 2014 Meursault Goutte d’Or

In summation, the 2014 Meursault Goutte d’Or pivots as much on its own intrinsic excellence as it does on the singularity it inherits from 2014's climatic narrative. Its graceful aging potential and Domaine des Comtes Lafon's venerated legacy shine through in every sip. Investors keen on curating a collection with stellar white Burgundies need look no further than this veritable embodiment of viticultural artistry—a narrative arc enshrined within each bottle.

The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignieres has a light apple blossom and lime-scented bouquet that needed some encouragement from the glass. It comes across more backward when compared to the 2015 Meursault Rougeot or Narvaux that preceded this wine at the domaine tasting. The palate offers candied orange peel on the entry that gallivants about with mandarin and grapefruit. It is hot-wired with a "killer" line of acidity that imbues this Puligny with supreme energy. The finish is pleasantly saline and offers a cheeky dab of lemongrass on the aftertaste. This is just superb.
