2009 Chambertin from Domaine Dujac, Burgundy, France
The 2009 Chambertin from Domaine Dujac emerges as a sterling example of the harmony between terroir and human artistry. In this vintage, we are afforded a glimpse into the confluence of ideal climatic conditions and meticulous viticulture that elevate Burgundy's pedigree.
A Vintage Defined by Poise and Austerity
Nurtured by a growing season that gifted Burgundy with near-perfect circumstances, the grapes of Domaine Dujac's Chambertin vineyards flourished. The cooler, dry days were bespangled with adequate sunlight leading to an exceptionally balanced ripening period. This celestially choreographed maturation is mirrored in the delicate equilibrium found in the 2009 Chambertin. It is a wine that eloquently bears witness to its birth year through its poised symmetry of structure and flavour.
Emanating Elegance Fit for Investment
This particular vintage effuses a regal elegant complexity that punctuates Domaine Dujac's legacy in the winemaking world. Investors will note the wonderous potential locked within its liquid borders, where the initial bouquet involves a mesmeric dance of ripe cherries and blackcurrants interlaced with whispers of earthy undertones and florals aptly characteristic of this noble land. Distinctly, it’s imbued with robust tannins that promise a longevity suited for any discerning investor's cellar. It is no idle boast to suggest that amongst the panoply of investment-worthy wines, this Chambertin stands poised to offer generous returns both on the palate and in the portfolio.
Bespeaking Its Epoch
Ever conscious of conveying how vintages distinguish themselves, I remain entranced by how uniquely this wine articulates its lineage. The 2009 Chambertin presents itself not only as an embodiment of Domaine Dujac's scrupulous craftsmanship but also as an articulate narrator of its vintage story—a neatly bound compendium of climatic grace notes and splendid harmonisation.
For those vested in weaving the story of their fine wine holdings with threads of inimitable years, the 2009 Chambertin from Domaine Dujac offers that very narrative carved from the soils of Burgundy, distilled through seasons and presented flawlessly in one’s glass—a poised exemplar poised for investment, appreciation, and enjoyment.

Scores and tasting notes
The 2009 Chambertin is flat-out stunning. It boasts gorgeous textural finesse and sheer energy from the very first taste. Blue and black fruit lead to spices, mint, licorice and tar as the wine explodes from the glass. Next to some of the other grand crus in the Dujac lineup, the Chambertin often comes across as quite obvious. Some of the wine’s subtler qualities emerge, but only over time. Layers of fruit crescendo to the palate staining finish. The Chambertin combines power and finesse to a degree seldom seen, even in Burgundy. This is pure sophistication. Anticipated maturity: 2024-2044. My tasting at Dujac was one of the highlights of the two weeks I spent in Burgundy in late November/early December 2011. I tasted through all the 2010s in barrel and 2009s in bottle. The domaine’s 2009s are among the wines of the vintage. Importers: The Sorting Table, Napa, CA; tel.
