The result? An opulent Barbaresco that's not just eloquent in its delivery but emblematic of Bruno Giacosa's alchemic genius. One is immediately captivated by an expressive nose that conjures up scents of ripe red cherries, roses and nuances of sweet spices. It's an inviting introduction that persists and beguiles.

Elevating wine investment: The 2003 charm

The 2003 Barbaresco Asili D.O.C.G. does not meekly hide behind dramatic climatic conditions. Instead, it excels, tempering voluptuous fruitiness with structured tannins resulting in a profound persistency that unfolds in layers on the palate. This brilliant interpretation by Bruno Giacosa is a flavorful journey made robust through earthiness and subtleness of toasted oak.

As elegant as it is complex, this honourable wine depicts the innovative dedication manifested by its producer during challenging times resulting in a wine that appeals to experienced investors and neophytes alike.

The just-bottled 2003 Barbaresco Asili is the only Barbaresco the ultra-perfectionist Bruno Giacosa has decided to release in this difficult vintage and it shows why Giacosa, along with Angelo Gaja, is in a class of his own when it comes to Barbaresco. Medium-red in color, it offers an expressive nose along with delicate nuances of super-ripe red fruits, macerated cherries and alcohol. Made in an atypically lush style, yet balanced by a classic sense of structure and proportion, this medium to full-bodied Barbaresco is one of the highlights of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. Importer: Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
