As wine auctions in London wind down for the summer, Bonhams’ final sale of the season saw great interest in Burgundy and First Growth claret, with Armand Rousseau taking centre stage.

Six bottles of Rousseau’s 1990 Clos de Beze sold for £14,340, while 12 bottles of the 2006 Chambertin went for £13,265.

Other top lots included six bottles of Georges Roumier’s 1990 Bonnes-Mares, which went for £14,340, and cases of 2010 Chateau Latour, which sold for £10,755.

The sale realised £754,159 in total, with more than half the final sum raised by a single collection.

Bonhams Senior International Director of Wine, Master of Wine Richard Harvey said, “In a strong sale, the top 10 lots were all from the same outstanding private collection. The care with which it had been stored – at The Wine Society and under Bond in Wiltshire – undoubtedly contributed to its appeal and shows the importance to value of keeping wine in first class condition.”
