Scores and tasting notes
Showing better than it did from cask, this soft, generous, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2007 exhibits sweet black currant fruit intermixed with cedar, roasted herbs, and subtle smoke. Round, hedonistic, and already complex, this blend of 73.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26.5% Merlot should drink well for 12-15 years.

Tasted blind at the 2007 Bordeaux horizontal in Southwold. I have not tasted the Duhart-Milon since out of barrel, but it certainly appears to have meliorated in bottle. Here, it has a very attractive, well-defined bouquet with graphite and mint to the fore: quintessential Pauillac. The palate has good depth and rounded, firm structure, a little dry and herbaceous but that is all in synch with the rest of the wine. Smooth and polished towards the finish, although it just lacks the persistency of a great wine, but sure to improve with age (as Duhart always is.) Not a compelling wine, a bit robust perhaps, but commendable. Tasted January 2011.
