By Domaine des Comtes Lafon
2009 Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, Burgundy, France
The 2009 Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti stands as a paragon amidst the hallowed vintages of Burgundy. A year that blessed vineyards with optimal ripening conditions has etched its character into this most exalted chardonnay.
The Quintessence of a Rare Vintage
In 2009, Mother Nature was particularly benevolent to the Côte de Beaune, presenting a canvas upon which the artisans at Domaine de la Romanee-Conti painted an exceptional vintage. The confluence of warm days and cool nights fashioned a Montrachet that is harmoniously balanced, flaunting an invigorating acidity underpinned by opulent fruit.
The 2009 vintage exhibits an arresting bouquet that intertwines honeysuckle with toasted almond, a prelude to the profound experience awaiting on the palate. With each sip comes a labyrinth of complexities: ripe pear and brioche glide seamlessly into subtler undertones of crystalline minerality.
An Investment Worthy of its Pedigree
Esteemed by connaisseurs and investors alike, the 2009 Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti is an emblem of excellence. Its scarcity and sublime quality render it not only an oenophilic treasure but also a discerning investment.
With the passage of time, the stature of this Burgundian marvel only grows. It is a wine that remains tantalisingly poised at the intersection of grace and power, demure yet self-assured—a true testimony to its immaculate terroir and the unerring skill at Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.
To palate and portfolio alike, this vintage bestows a legacy that is eminently collectible, deeply satisfying for those who appreciate storied wines endowed with the capacity for further maturation and elevation in both character and value.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2011 from Comtes-Lafon has a slightly austere bouquet with touches of white flower and melted butter developing with aeration, while maintaining fine delineation and focus. The palate is clean and fresh with good acidity, vibrant citrus fruit and a wonderfully poised and vibrant finish that lacks a little persistence in the mouth.
