Precision and Poise: The Essence of 1995
The year 1995 was greeted in Burgundy with tangible optimism, cascading into a season that united both viticulturist and winemaker in a harmonious venture. The relatively dry summer and an unhurried autumn granted the Pinot Noir of Chambolle-Musigny an idyllic ripening curve, yielding fruit that imbued the wines with a profound intensity balanced by an elegant structure.
This particular expression from Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier captures the vintage's quintessence. Upon tasting, one is privy to a tapestry of dark cherries and ripe strawberries that interlace gracefully with whispers of violets and earthy undertones. Time has woven its magic into the texture, presenting a palate where tannins whisper rather than shout, and acidity conducts with a maestro's precision, culminating in an extraordinarily long finish.
An Investment Worthy of Reverence
The 1995 Chambolle Musigny les Amoureuses nurtures an illustrious status among collectors and investors. Its scarcity, coupled with the vintage's repute, underscores its investment allure. Each bottle is not merely a vessel of fine wine but also a repository of potential value appreciation over time.
In essence, for those who seek to diversify their portfolio with vintages of distinction, this particular offering from Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier affords an intriguing proposition. As with all fine wine investments, provenance and storage conditions must underscore decision-making; here, they find a profound resonance with the dignity of the 1995 heritage.
To infuse one's collection with this jewel is to embrace a tapestry of vinicultural artistry threaded with historical resonance. The 1995 Chambolle Musigny les Amoureuses from Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier stands as one eloquent testament to Burgundy's everlasting allureāa symphony in a bottle that lingers long after the last note has been savoured.

(also known as the Chateau de Chambolle-Musigny) Frederic Mugnier had just recently bottled his 1995s when I visited him in June, and he was reluctant to allow me to taste them. Two of the wines were showing admirably well and deserve to be mentioned. The ruby-colored Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses exhibits delightful aromas of wild strawberries and touches of underbrush as well as an extremely elegant, silky-textured, medium-to-full bodied personality jam-packed with lively cherries, violets, minerals and spices. This superb wine possesses plenty of ripe, round tannins for structure in its beautifully long finish. Drink it between 2001-2009.
