A Vintage That Stands Apart
The 2005 vintage was greeted with near-perfect climatic conditions in Burgundy. An amiable spring set the stage for flawless flowering, while the summer progressed with enough warmth to encourage impeccable grape maturation without veering into excess that could befall lesser years. The resulting harvest was one of exceptional quality, offering ripe berries poised with thrilling acidity – a duality captured elegantly within this wine.
The tasting notes of 2005 Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet speak to an aristocratic palate: a flinty minerality underpinning ripe stone fruits, kissed by nuances of toasted hazelnut and honeycomb. The evolution in bottle has been nothing short of graceful; its structure has maintained the firm spine required to carry its ample fruit and mineral aspects to a finish that lingers like the final sonorous note of a symphony.

The 2007 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru opens in the glass with scents of lemon oil, clear honey, confit citrus, warm bread, almond paste and a very discrete touch of smoky reduction. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with unusual volume and breadth for the vintage, striking concentration and an incisive spine of acidity, concluding with a long, vibrant and chalky finish. While this 2007 is still a few years from true maturity, it clearly numbers among the wines of the vintage.
