Captivated by Climate - The Uniqueness of 2014

The weather conditions of 2014 in Rhône undeniably left a distinctive imprint on this wine. Contrastingly cool spring and summer seasons, followed by a notably warm autumn blessed the grapes with a protracted ripening phase. This allowed the Syrah to develop its multifaceted personality, optimising complexity and depth in character.

Subtle hints of violets, blackcurrants, and pepper spice are swathed by supple tannins, revealing an unexpectedly enduring elegance within this confident wine.

One cannot ignore the molten chocolate undertones, emblematic of classic Rhône Syrah, balancing the deep, rich fruit plushness with a luxurious velvety finish.

Unarguably, this 2014 Hermitage les Bessards is a remarkable testament to the Delas Freres' solid tradition of winemaking and insightful adaptation to climatic variations, representing an enticing addition to any discerning wine investment portfolio.

The inky-colored 2014 Hermitage les Bessards (100% Syrah aged 18 months in 30% new barrels) is up with the top wines in the vintage. Deep, rich and concentrated, with beautiful crushed rock-like minerality, liquid violets, cassis, and black raspberry aromas and flavors, it's medium to full-bodied, impeccably balanced and has building, ripe, polished tannin. This beautiful wine will keep for two decades or more.
