2010 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses from Domaine Comte de Vogue
The 2010 vintage in Burgundy is often lauded for its striking equilibrium and the ability to convey the intricacy of its terroir. None demonstrate this more spectacularly than the 2010 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses from Domaine Comte de Vogue. In the pantheon of fine wines, this particular nectar shines brightly, chatting a romantic ode to the exceptional climatic conditions of its year.
An Exquisite Emblem of Elegance and Precision
The 2010 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses articulates its narrative with an eloquent fluency. It is a vintage where Domaine Comte de Vogue's hallowed precision met Mother Nature's benevolent mood. Unravelling in the glass, it reveals itself at a sensual waltz's tempo; harmonious and assured. One finds a perceptible tension between the structured minerality and delicate floral notes that are synonymous with Les Amoureuses—a feature accentuated by 2010's cooler than average growing season which bestowed wines with racy acidity and fabulous longevity.
Investing in a Narrative of Neoclassical Grace
For those whose portfolios seek not only aesthetic vivacity but also enduring value, the 2010 rendition is a compelling proposition. As an abiding aficionado, I have vicariously experienced this wine's evolution since its bottling. Now approaching a plateau of maturity, it still promises an upwards trajectory which will surely entice collectors and investors alike.
The personality of this wine radiates not merely from the fruit but from its sapid earthiness interlaced with subtle herbaceous whispers - an homage to Chambolle-Musigny's hallowed dirt. A symphony led principally by red currants and morels, with an encore of rose petals and crushed chalk, deftly conducted by taut tannins.
In summary, the 2010 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses from Domaine Comte de Vogue is resplendent as it reminisces over a beautiful bygone autumn; an heirloom piece for both enthusiast and investor. This vintage stands as a bastion of Burgundy’s finesse and complexity – capable of regaling tales from its storied soil for years to come.

The 2010 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is initially rather cool and inward, then blossoms gradually with time in the glass. It is a beautifully poised, centered wine endowed with tremendous focus and inner calm. Red berries, spices, crushed flowers and saline notes all continue to build as the wine works its way to the boisterous finish. This is another totally entrancing wine. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. Long-time oenologist Francois Millet was away during my visit to Burgundy, so I can’t relay his always visually evocative thoughts on recent vintages. At the end of the day, though, these wines need no words; they speak for themselves, and then some. Commercial director Jean-Luc Pepin was kind enough to show me all of the 2010s and 2009s (from bottle), including the seldom seen Bourgogne Blanc. I will report on the 2009s in the April issue.
