2000 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs from Taittinger

Few Champagnes elicit an emotional response quite like the 2000 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs from Taittinger. Cognoscenti and collectors would agree that this vintage stands distinct with its nuanced personality and compelling balance, brought forward by a propitious climatic season.

A perfect degree of celebration and investment

As a wine investment firm, we understand the importance of marrying taste with market potential. The year 2000 was characterized by a superb balance between sunny days and cool nights which allowed their coveted Chardonnay grapes, the sole protagonist in this narrative, to mature with a fine equipoise of richness and acidity. This inimitable balance positions this vintage as a promising prospect for those seeking both palatal delight and robust returns.

Like a confounding piece of music with layers unraveling over repeated listens, the 2000 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs invites back the discerning connoisseur owing to its complex tasting notes. Upon first encounter, one is greeted with toasted brioche and honeyed almonds, underlined by a delicate wave of citrus zest and crisp green apple.

The Year That Made History

A noteworthy detail about the year 2000 is that its weather conditions were so remarkably balanced that it surpassed many Champagne vintages of yore in terms of quality. Epitomizing this superb vintage, Taittinger's 2000 release captures an exquisite microcosm of that climatic idyll in each bottle.

Subsequent sips reveal subtle hints of white florals, rounding off the experience like an evocative composition reaching its harmonious finale. Each glass is akin to enjoying an intimate performance from a master pianist, the keys resonating with notes composed by nature itself.

In essence, the beauty of the 2000 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs lies not only in its elegant interplay of complex cues but also in its unique place in wine history; as such, it is positioned not just for sheer drinking pleasure but also as a tangible asset for wealth portfolio diversification - truly embodying both spirit and investment.

The 2000 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne is a huge wine bursting with ripe varietal fruit, smoke, ash, crushed rocks and slate. This is an unusual Comtes that deftly balances richness and power while maintaining considerable minerality. The 2000 will be hard to resist in its youth, but should also age beautifully for a number of years. It is a stunning, flat-out great bottle. This is Lot L0346UJ05700. Disgorged October 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2030. I tasted a wide range of outstanding wines during my recent visit at Taittinger, including a handful of upcoming releases of the flagship Comtes de Champagne. I don’t often hear much of a of buzz about Comtes de Champagnes, but the cognoscenti know this is one of the very best and most ageworthy wines in Champagne. As much as I admire the work Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his team are doing, it would be nice to see the Taittinger their NV wines with disgorgement dates, or at the very least lot numbers that actually convey something of real meaning to the consumer.
