In the vast repertoire of renowned winemaker Domaine de Pegau, the 2014 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Laurence stands as a harmonious symphony of authenticity and finesse. This vintage unfolds with an intriguing complexity on both the nose and palate, a vital attribute for those pursuing dependable investment wines.
Echoes of Earth and Vintage Conditions
The climate conditions of 2014 in Rhone were unpredictable, to say the least, challenging vintners with a cool year punctuated by instances of high rainfall. Yet it is exactly this adversity that has brought out a radiant depth in the Cuvee Laurence. The wine's foundation is an enigmatic blend of full-bodied Grenache coupled with Syrah and Mourvèdre, setting the stage for an enticing play of aroma, texture, and flavor.
Captivating Aesthetic, Tantalising Complexities
This vintage opens with engaging aromas of black cherry enveloped in expressions of ripe fields and weathered leather. The palette senses are further invoked by flavours of dark forest fruits intermixed with tantalising hints of chocolate, tobacco, and earthy spice. These elements nimbly dance around a firm backbone of structured tannins that assert themselves most spectacularly on the finish.
Investing in Gastronomic Elegance
Remarkably patient investors will find pleasure uncovering its evolving intricacies over time. It's a wine that exhibits a charming balance between power and elegance; an elegant juxtaposition captured impeccably in the 2014 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Laurence.
With the trend in fine wine investment leaning towards less conventional, yet equally enchanting regions as Rhone, this vintage makes for a compelling acquisition. A shining testament to this, the 2014 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Laurence from Domaine de Pegau professes the benefits of forethought in both winemaking and wine investment.
The wine's stunning lineage, its persistent vibrancy, and the balanced sophistication it attains even amidst climatic adversity, mark it as one of the most memorable peerless vintages to come from Domaine de Pegau, promising a bright future for those seeking rewarding wine investments.

In years in which there's no Cuvée da Capo, Feraud produces a Cuvée Laurence, which is similar to the Cuvée Reservée, but with extended aging (usually around four years) in foudre. The 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Laurence is the current release, bottled at the end of November 2018, and it's a beauty, marrying leather and cherry notes in a full-bodied but silky, easy-drinking format. A blend of 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre and 10% other varieties, it should drink well for at least decade.
