Liv-ex reveals 2017’s top performing wines

The best-performing fine wines of 2017 came from Burgundy, Italy and Rhone, according to Liv-ex, with increased interest in Giacomo Conterno and Armand Rousseau resulting in multiple spots for each producer in the top 10.

Conterno Barolo Cascina Francia 2004 takes the top spot, jumping 156.5% to £2,519 throughout the year, while the Barolo Cascina Francia 2007 edges into 10th place with a very respectable rise of 65.8%.

The Rhone 100 was the year’s worst-performing sub-index of the Liv-ex 1000, but it did produce one or two gems. Guigal’s Cote Rotie Mouline 2000, for example, is the second-best performing wine of the year in terms of price, leaping 122% to £3,532 over the year.
