2011 Vosne Romanee Aux Reignots from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, Burgundy
In the labyrinthine tapestry that is Burgundy's terroir, each plot whispers its secrets, and few speak as eloquently as the 2011 Vosne Romanee Aux Reignots from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair. An intense vintage, the product of a year that was meteorologically varied yet ultimately merciful to those who discerned the right moments to harvest.
Harmonious Hues of a Complex Vintage
The 2011 vintage in Burgundy was marked by early flowering, a relatively warm spring, and an unpredictable summer—challenges that hewed closely to the skills of vigneron. However, it is precisely these capricious conditions that have distilled in the 2011 Vosne Romanee Aux Reignots a vibrancy that effuses both opulence and tension between nose and palate.
Striking a rare equilibrium, this wine exhibits a dichotomy between ripe red berry fruit and earthy forest floor, accented by a refined spice thanks to a tactful 18 months in oak barrels. There's an admirable concentration here—graceful yet profoundly structured—which I attribute to the old vines' deep anchorage in this hallowed slice of Burgundian clay and limestone.
The Investment-Worthy Linage of Comte Liger-Belair
For connoisseurs seeking investment-grade Burgundies, Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair demands attention. The family's storied dedication to viticultural finesse sings through the 2011 Vosne Romanee Aux Reignots, reflecting not just a noteworthy year but a continuum of excellence.
With ten years of maturity already gracing this bottle, it stands at an enchanting juncture where investors and aficionados alike can ponder its trajectory—with immediate pleasure or patience for future revelation. The poise with which this vintage carries its complexity suggests room for further development, bearing promise for those who choose to include it within their portfolios.

Collectors looking to embellish their cellars with nuanced éclat will find the 2011 Vosne Romanee Aux Reignots from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair an exquisite addition. It is a wine that not only parades the distinctive attributes of its vintage but also embodies the unyielding spirit of its esteemed terroir—a compelling narrative for every investor-bent palate.

Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2011 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots has a slight but attractive leafiness on the nose, touches of Provençal herbs and a slight fish oil scent developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sharpness to the tannin, a little angular compared to the 2009 or 2010. There is plenty of freshness here and tension, a pleasant sappiness that continues long on the aftertaste thus urging another sip. Very fine. Tasted June 2015.
