A Vintage Distinguished by Elegance and Structure
Domaine Dujac's unswerving commitment to showcasing the singular character of each vineyard is transparent in this exceptional release. However, these obstacles have culminated in a wine that balances intensity with finesse - a hallmark of outstanding vintages.
The 2016 Clos de la Roche carries the depth and complexity for which the Grand Cru is coveted. A rich bouquet of dark cherries and earthy spices cascade into an elegantly structured palate where layers of fruit intertwine with refined tannins and a fresh acidity — a testament to the meticulous vinification and organic farming principles adhered to by Domaine Dujac.
An Exemplar for Fine Wine Investment
Savvy investors recognise the weight that a stellar vintage carries, and the 2016 Clos de la Roche is poised to become one of the foremost assets in a curated wine portfolio. The 2016 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru leans more toward red fruit than black fruit, just a little damp earth, wet leaf component that detracts from the purity. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly hard tannin, actually more like a Clos Saint-Denis, with touches of black olive on the masculine, maybe charmless finish? Let’s see how this matures in bottle. It may have just not performed on the day of my visit.
