The year 2005 stands as a beacon of excellence in the annals of Burgundy, a vintage that brought forth wines of extraordinary depth and longevity. Among these esteemed creations, the 2005 Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux from Domaine Emmanuel Rouget demands a rapturous ovation. An Exemplary Year Captured in a Bottle
Having traversed the gamut of Burgundy’s climatic whimsy over forty vintages, I set my sights on appraising the particular nuances the year 2005 bestows upon this storied plot. The season experienced near-ideal conditions - balmy summer days tempered by cool nights – culminating in grapes that achieved impeccable balance; power coupled with finesse, and concentration interwoven with freshness.
On the palate, this 2005 Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux reveals a symphony of arboreal whispers – undergrowth and spiced cherry – remarkably egalitarian in its presentation of fruit and mineral components. Its texture resembles silk spun from nature's own distaff: abundant yet ethereal tannins that attest to an ageing potential stretching easily into the coming decades.
Potential for Investors
The quintessence of the 2005 vintage is encapsulated within each bottle; a beacon for fine wine investors forecasting promising returns. The 2005 Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux from Domaine Emmanuel Rouget is not merely a wine; it is an asset worthy of meticulous consideration for both its tangible vigour and intangible voluptuousness.
In summation, this vinous gem offers entrée to an opulent narrative woven throughout the fabric of Burgundian legacy. The 2005 Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux from Domaine Emmanuel Rouget embodies a benchmark against which future vintages will invariably be measured, presenting a luminous opportunity for discerning aficionados and astute investors keen to anchor their portfolios with marvels cast from Bacchus's own crucible.

Rouget’s 2005 Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux displays much brighter, diverse red and black fruit aromas than does his Echezeaux, along with high-toned fruit distillate and citrus rind suggestions and scintillating spiciness (although a certain caramel, vanilla and resin overlay of oak is present as well). This delivers bright, energetic, sappy fruit intensity and generous spiciness on the palate, leading to an ejaculatory finish, at once pointed and clinging in its concentration. Plan on saving this (and yourself) for another 8-10 years. Importer: Martine’s Wines, Novato, CA; tel. (415) 883-0400
