The Vintage of Elegance Under Challenge

The charm of the 2013 Burgundy vintage may have been shrouded in climatic trepidation, yet it emerges as an exemplifier of precision and charm in the hands of Domaine Leroy. The 2013 Gevrey les Combottes from Domaine Leroy astonishes with a profile of enthralling complexity—a testament to the mastery over the whims of nature possessed by this distinguished Burgundian estate.

Unravelling the Layers

The 2013 vintage carried with it a cooler-than-usual growing season, leading to a later harvest imbued with punctilious spontaneity. The long hang time allowed for the slow development of flavours, resulting in wines like the 2013 Gevrey les Combottes—an intricate mélange of ripe red fruits veiled only thinly by aromatic earthiness and a genteel cloak of well-arranged tannins. A grace note of minerality, characteristic of this specific Gevrey-Chambertin terroir, shines like a beacon amidst the mild tension between structured acidity and understated power.

A Study in Poise and Potential

While many winemakers held their breath in anticipation, Domaine Leroy's mastery of terroir asserted itself through meticulous vineyard stewardship. In this particular cuvée, each drone of vibrant cherry is seamlessly intertwined with whispers of dark chocolate and restrained oak—a synergy heightened by a seemingly inherent savoir faire for ageing potential. For investors, this vintage epitomises a rare investment opportunity—not merely as a collector's piece but as an icon demonstrating resilience through adversity.

In summary, the 2013 Gevrey les Combottes from Domaine Leroy presents an inviting spectacle for both connoisseurs and investors alike. Its elusive elegance, combined with Domaine Leroy's perennial commitment to excellence, creates an unmissable addition to any discerning portfolio. As we navigate through its layered bouquet and poised palate, let us toast to a wine that eloquently articulates the adorned subtleties of its vintage.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Combottes has a very complex bouquet with scents of wet limestone and sea spray infusing the red and black fruit. This is almost pixilated. The palate is quite masculine and linear at the moment, very well defined, impressive structure and presence with a very persistent finish that stays in the mouth a minute after the wine has departed. Divine.
