1995 Clos St Denis from Domaine Dujac, Burgundy, France

The venerated 1995 Clos St Denis from Domaine Dujac unfolds as a symphony of terroir-driven complexity that speaks to the sophisticated palate of the astute fine wine investor. The year 1995 sparkled as a beacon amongst the vintages of the decade, heralded for yielding wines of remarkable structure and balance, particularly within the hallowed vineyards of Burgundy.

A Timeless Expression from an Illustrious Year

As I articulate my thoughts on this notable vintage, one can scarcely overstate the impact of the climatic patterns that set 1995 apart. An ideal bloom, tempered by a steady ripening season, gave rise to grapes that presaged the exemplary nature of what was to come. With adept vinification at the hands of Domaine Dujac’s artisanal team, this Clos St Denis has evolved into an investment-grade nectar, matured yet robust after all these years.

Refinement in Every Sip: The Vintage Advantage

The breadth and depth of this wine's profile are immediately apparent upon decanting. A tapestry of ripe cherry and raspberry interlaces with aged notes of leather and truffle – a classic signifier of top-tier Burgundian Pinot Noir reaching its peak. What distinguishes the 1995 vintage in particular is a profound earthiness, grounding its subtle fruit and harmoniously integrating with a firm yet silken tannin structure.

Domaine Dujac’s mastery is exhibited in their sparing use of new oak during maturation - allowing the intrinsic qualities of the Clos St Denis terroir to shine through without unnecessary adornment. This choice shows in the wine's graceful evolution, now residing at a stunning plateau where secondary savoury components dance alongside hauntingly elegant fruit remnants.

Ensuring Unparalleled Distinction: Invest with Confidence

In summation, this enchanting elixir from 1995 harbours all one seeks in a pristine Burgundian collectable: distinct vintage expression, exceptional poise, and maturity that teeters on the precipice of its zenith. As connoisseurs with an eye for both palate excellence and investment potential turn their gazes toward such rarities, it becomes clear: to possess a bottle of 1995 Clos St Denis from Domaine Dujac is to hold a piece of vinous history firmly gripped within one’s own collection.

The excellent Clos St.-Denis exhibits aromas of creamy blueberries. This oily-textured, light-to-medium-bodied, beautifully ripe wine is filled with cherry, earth and mineral flavors. Slightly tannic, I recommend holding it for 5 years before drinking it over the next 8 years. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29.
