Amid the ongoing excitement of En Primeur, two Champagne houses have released new vintages of their prestige cuvees.

Louis Roederer's Cristal 2008 has been released to the international trade, and is being offered to UK merchants for £1,430 per case of 12. This is the sixth consecutive vintage to be offered to the market (although the 2009 was released prior to the 2008).

Jancis Robinson, who awarded a score of 19.5/20, has praised it as “incredibly complete but obviously still youthful”.

According to Liv-ex, “demand is expected to be strong for this wine and the current bid on Liv-ex reflects a 12.9% premium to release.”

Tattinger has also made a release. Its Comtes de Champagne 2007 is being offered to the UK trade at £900 per 12.

Christelle Guibert, who undertook a recent tasting of Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs for Decanter, scored the 2007 at 93 points noting that the wine has “plenty of energy with a fine mousse.”

Demand is likely to be high for this one, as while it’s the fourth consecutive vintage from the house, it will be the last one until the 2012, as the 2009, 2010 and 2011 are not being declared.
