2007 Chateau Le Tertre Roteboeuf, Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux
The 2007 vintage across much of Bordeaux has often been briskly discussed in a tone suggesting a more reticent accolade. However, the 2007 Chateau Le Tertre Roteboeuf from Chateau Le Tertre Roteboeuf in Saint-Émilion was crafted with aplomb, standing as an illustration of the finesse possible even in less heralded years.
A Pinnacle of Poise and Precision
Indeed, this offering from the vaunted slopes of Saint-Émilion radiates a character as compelling as it is confident—an exquisite riposte to any scepticism facing the year's yields. The 2007 vintage was challenging; yet, where others saw hindrance, the indefatigable François Mitjavile perceived opportunity. It is a shining testament to the impressive adaptability and irrefutable skill of the winemaking process.
A Symphony of Sensory Experience
Tasting the 2007 Chateau Le Tertre Roteboeuf unveils layers akin to an olfactory tapestry, brimming with ripe plums, black cherries, and an undercurrent of truffle—a signature of Mitjavile's vinous artistry. A hint of toasty oak intertwined with tendrils of tobacco and spice dance on a polished tannin structure that has softened beautifully over time.
The palate is rewarded with an elegant complexity. Harmonious interplay between fruit purity and terroir-driven minerality culminates in a persistent finish that denotes not only excellence but investable potentiality. Characteristic freshness provides balance alongside its well-integrated tertiary notes that have gently evolved within the bottle's sanctum.
In summation, the 2007 Chateau Le Tertre Roteboeuf offers a distinctive narrative for investors and connoisseurs alike—quiet assurance matched with sophisticated expression; a magnificent reminder that often, the whispers can resonate as clearly as the shouts in journeying through Bordeaux's vinous history.

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 Le Tertre-Rôteboeuf has an irresistible bouquet with plush red and black fruit, crème de cassis and vanilla pod, almost Burgundian in style and billowing with aeration in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and plush with dark plum, macerated red cherries and strawberry. But this is all about that velvety texture and the weight and concentration on the finish. Surely this is Tertre-Rôteboeuf? It is! Perhaps the most delicious wine of the vintage. Tasted March 2015.
