The limited edition Ruchottes-Chambertin (100 cases produced in 1990) reveals the smoky, earthy, gamey bouquet that is either adored or disliked by tasters. In the mouth, the sweet, full-bodied wine displays a kinky, earthy, black-cherry, tarry fruitiness. There is admirable body, moderate tannins, and a long finish. Drink it between 1995-2010. The wines of this famed domaine, long known for its classic old style burgundies, do indeed improve with cellaring. The Domaine Roumier made some of the finest 1988s and their 1990s range from excellent to outstanding. Importer: Chateau and Estates, New York, NY.
