This veritable icon of the Italian wine scene commands respect and reverence, a monument to the vision and tenacity of il maestro, Bruno Giacosa himself.

A vintage blessed by the heavens

The climatic serendipity of 1999 bestowed a gift upon this fine jewel amongst Italian wines. A gentle Spring followed by the warmth of Summer exerted a profound influence on the nebbiolo grapes destined for this ambrosial elixir. The resultant slow maturation expressed itself in incredible complexity, a unity of power and grace personified by its seductive tannic structure and sensual aromatic bounty.

A testament to Giacosa's reputation as an artist at harmonising terroir and vineyard, the 1999 Barolo Falletto D.O.C.G is imbued with expressive notes emblematic of the region's mineral-rich soil and unique climate; enigmatic whispers of fresh roses and cherries intertwined with subtleties of licorice and spices - nuances that continue to develop long after an initial sip.

The persuasive charm of maturity

Time prevails as the most benevolent curator for wine investment; the 1999 vintage stands as evidence to such maturation. The passage of years has moulded it into nothing short of enchantment in a glass, rewarding patience with a beautifully softened palate and heightening dimensions of its character.

Over time, these fine wines from Italy, like the 1999 Barolo Falletto D.O.C.G., weave tales of their years in darkened cellars, weaving gold from the extended hibernation, thus enhancing their allure to discerning wine investors.

Enduring legacy of Bruno Giacosa

It's no small wonder that the Bruno Giacosa's Barolo ranks among the most sought-after investment gems in the world. The outstanding 1999 Barolo Falletto is a very firm garnet, with smoky clove, cinnamon, plum and cherry aromas and a heady, warming contribution from the alcohol. Its packed red and black fruit flavors, powerful structure, and the intensity and length which mark Nebbiolo from Serralunga, are the tell-tale signs of a classic in the making. The rise in textural fullness on the finish suggests that this is a Barolo to cellar. Drink 2006-2030. A Leonardo Locascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
