The remaining bottles of Henri Jayer’s wines from the domaine cellar will be offered for sale in Geneva later this month.

More than 1,000 bottles and magnums will feature at the auction on 17 June, spanning vintages from 1970 to 2001 – Henri Jayer’s last vintage before his passing in 2006.

Split across 215 lots, the sale includes wines from a variety of premiers and grands crus in Vosne-Romanee, Nuits Saint Georges, Richebourg and Echezeaux, including Beaumonts, Les Brulees, Les Meurgers and Cros Parantoux.

Two verticals have been created for the sale, including a 15-magnum vertical of Cros Parantoux from 1978 to 2001 (expected to fetch up to £364,000) and a 12-bottle vertical of Echezeaux from 1976 to 1999 (with a high estimate of £69,700).

All the wines have been given new wooden cases and a ProofTag in order to identify them and guarantee provenance.

Michael Ganne, executive director of Baghera Wines, which is managing the sale, said: “Henri Jayer will always be one of the most mythical winemaker from Burgundy and these last bottles originating from the domaine cellar is really is an unprecedented event for all wine enthusiasts – the very last chance to touch and taste the Holy Grail!”
