The 2016 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, labelled under "Christophe Roumier" as usual, was unaffected by the frost, and Christophe described how this cuvée is more “relaxed” as a result. I concur. It has a gorgeous and very pure bouquet with ebullient red cherry, strawberry and cranberry fruit intermingling with blood orange and mineral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with dense, fairly strict tannins that lend weight to this Charmes-Chambertin. I commented to Christophe that it is very Mazoyères in style, forgetting that it is actually from Mazoyères. Superb.
