In the pantheon of Burgundy’s grand crus, the 2001 vintage of Clos St Denis from Domaine Dujac stands as a paragon of the viticulturist's deft hand and nature’s serendipity. Few harvests challenge the connoisseur's palate with such finesse as this storied year; 2001 was nuanced, exhibiting a persuasive argument for the region’s claim to oenological distinction.

Eloquence of Terroir: A Year of Precision

The growing season in 2001 faced meteorological mood swings that tested vintners throughout Burgundy. Yet, the tenacity of Domaine Dujac's viticultural practice turned potential peril into triumph. The resultant 2001 Clos St Denis reveals the mastery with which they navigated that capricious climate—an admirable feat echoing through each glass.

The 2001 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru from Domaine Dujac is superb, wafting from the glass with a pretty bouquet of cherry, strawberry, rose petal and hints of espresso and raw cocoa. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, elegant and quite expansive with nice depth, an ample chassis of fine-grained tannins and deceptive length, its structural elements asserting themselves in the form of subtle grip on the finish. A great success that blossoms beautifully with air.
