Background:
This Tuscan estate of around 55 acres was acquired by owners Rita Tua and her husband, Virgilio Bisti in 1984. They set about planting a mixture of Cabernet and Merlot and in 1992 produced their very first vintage. It wasn’t too long after; that the estate started receiving praise and highly deserved accolades from the world’s leading wine critics and enthusiasts alike. Its 100% Merlot offering – Redigaffi – quickly gained a cult-like status which was cemented when the world’s pre-eminent wine critic Robert Parker Jr. awarded their 2000 vintage with a perfect score of 100 pts.
With the estate’s other wines equally high in quality, it is of no surprise that the wines of Tua Rita are some of the most difficult to find. Especially when you consider the estate’s total annual production is currently just 3400 cases, of which only 9,000 bottles are made of the highly regarded Redigaffi.
LIV-EX Blog, March 2014
‘’ Italy’s strongest performers remained the Super Tuscans, but prices are lifting for other wines from the region: Redigaffi 2005 and 2006 have risen over 30% in two years.’’
Since 2007, the vintage has produced a string of fantastic wines averaging 95.8 pts from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate. The average trading price for these 5 vintages is currently £1,357 per 12.
This is compered to older vintages of Redigaffi which have scored equally well from critics (95-97 pts) which on average trade at £2,814 per 12, more than double the price of the estate’s most recent efforts.

The data above suggests that the younger vintages of this wine are set to double in value over the next 5-7 years.
There seems to be a strong argument for focusing on the 2010 vintage which @ £1,200 per 12 looks considerably well priced when compared to older but inferior scored vintage which trade upwards of three times more.
