Moet & Chandon has launched its Grand Vintage Blanc and Rose Champagne from the 2009 harvest, which chef de cave Benoît Gouez has described as an “exceptional” year.

Speaking to thedrinksbusiness, Gouez commented on the quality of the Pinot Noir, which accounts for as much as 50% of the blend – the highest proportion since Moet’s 1996 vintage.

The Grand Vintage is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay and 14% Meunier. The Rose comprises 59% Pinot Noir (19% red wine), 30% Chardonnay and 1% Meunier. Both have spent seven years in the house’s cellars.

Both cuvees are now available to the off- and on-trade from Moet Hennessy, with Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2009 released for a recommended £47 per bottle, and the Grand Vintage Rose a recommended £60.
