An Ethereal Vintage Shaped by Nature's Whims

The 2012 season in Burgundy was fraught with challenges – frost in the early spring and hailstorms during the summer months signalled a strenuous year ahead. Nonetheless, meticulous vineyard husbandry at Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair coaxed forth a vintage that defies expectations and emerges triumphantly complex. The reduced yield due to climatic severity led to an unusual concentration of flavours that resonate throughout each sip of the 2012 Vosne Romanee Clos du Chateau.

Masterful Craftsmanship Meets Optimal Maturation

On the nose, the wine divulges an intoxicating blend of ripe cherries and blackcurrant underpinned by subtle hints of violets – a sophisticated precursor to what blossoms on the palate. With patience, it reveals layers of spice and earthiness, evocative of its illustrious terroir, before culminating in a velvety finish that confers both delicacy and longevity. These characteristics showcase not only the resilience but also the potential for transcendence that can be achieved in Burgundy’s more challenging years.

Wine collectors and investors will find the 2012 Vosne Romanee Clos du Chateau to present not only an enchanting experience for the senses but also a valuable addition to any well-curated portfolio. Poised for further maturation or ready to be relished now, this vintage stands as evidence of when hardship breeds excellence.

Investment Worthiness Wrapped in Silken Tannins

In summary, the expressive nature and rarity made manifest by climatic adversity have resulted in a highly covetable bottle. The 2012 vintage from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair articulates an alluring narrative of triumph against the elements, cementing its place as one of the most intriguing collectors’ items within the bounds of Vosne-Romanée's storied winemaking legacy.

The 2012 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château offers up a lovely nose of wild strawberries, rose petal, baking spices and a touch of herbs, framed by attractive new oak. On the palate, the wine is supple and transparent, with delicate tannins and a sweet core of fruit. Like the 2013, however, this is less sumptuous and dramatic than it was on release and now seems to lack a bit of intensity and length.
