The Burgundian tapestry of 2017 is strikingly complex, and amidst its intricacies, the 2017 Vosne Romanee la Colombiere from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is a vibrant thread. Artistry in The Bottle: An Investment-grade Nectar

2017 was a year that rewarded the astute vignerons of Burgundy with ample sunshine and an early harvest, leading to wines of both concentration and charm. Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair has harnessed these conditions marvelously, presenting investors with a wine that blends immediate allure with the structure to evolve.

Crafting Elegance in Challenging Climes

In the glass, the 2017 Vosne Romanee la Colombiere casts a ruby hue, coyly hinting at its youthful vivacity. Its olfactory ballet pirouettes through scents of ripe cherries and summer earth before bowing to subtle whispers of clove and violet. On the palate, one is struck by the silkiness of tannins - a classic hallmark of Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair's delicate extraction process.

This vintage is notably approachable in its infancy yet possesses the inherent fortitude for long-term cellaring. The estate's judicious use of oak kisses the wine lightly, ensuring that whilst there is structure, it does not dominate the opulent fruit core.

As one contemplates this 2017 puzzle piece from Burgundy’s mosaic, it reveals itself as an enigmatic blend of a bountiful Mother Nature and thoughtful vigneron artistry. It is a sophisticated option for enthusiasts looking to diversify their portfolio with a touch of Vosne-Romanée elegance.

To savour this articulate expression from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is to appreciate a harmonious interplay between vintage character and terroir; it is indeed one for discerning collectors who are vigilant in their pursuit of both fine wine indulgence and wise investment.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée La Colombière is also quite strongly marked by its time in new wood, though the wine has more substance to integrate it, offering up an appealing bouquet of French roast, plums, wild berries, dark chocolate and an attractive touch of peony. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, satiny and more complete, with juicy acids and creditable depth at the core, concluding with a saline finish. It's an appreciable step above the regular Vosne-Romanée Village this year.
